Amir has researched the effects of screen time on adolescents. Now, Amir is writing a response. Amir
does not think that screen time is something all teens
can avoid
Which detail from the source best supports Amir's
idea?
While many schools have brought in 1:1 programs, which
provide one device for every student, experts recommend
that teens and tweens limit their screen time and use of
technology.
Screen time can have positive effects and can be used for
learning, but it can also be negative and toxic to teens. At
home, teens use screen time to connect with others,
watch videos, and play games, but also to engage in social
media banter and sharing. At school, students may watch
educational videos that connect to a lesson.
Either way, teens are getting more screen time than ever
before. Both parents and teachers need to set limits. Just
because the technology is available does not mean it is
always helpful, experts say.
Teachers who wanted technology in their classrooms are
now finding it to be a distraction, as students use devices
for noneducational purposes.
* "Teens are getting more screen time than ever
before."
O "Parents and guardians may be able to adjust
screen time at home, but not every place will allow
for those limits."
O "Technology-free schools do exist."
O "Screen time can have positive effects and can be
used for learning, but it can also be negative and
toxic to teens."
