The Pulitzer Prize is considered one of the nation’s highest honors. The award recognizes excellence in newspaper journalism, literature, and music composition. It was named after founder and newspaper publisher Joseph Pulitzer. Columbia University has supervised the awards since his death. There are 21 categories. Winners are announced each April.
