Read the following passage. Which event would further develop the conflict in this
story?
For the first time in a week, Vivian felt confident when
she walked through the front doors of her new school.
The first few days had been lonely. Hardly anyone had
spoken to her, and when she had walked past the
huddled groups of students, she could hear their
muffled comments. But yesterday at lunch a girl named
Betsy had sat down with her and started a
conversation. As it turned out, Betsy was really nice
and shared a lot of interests with Vivian. It felt good to
finally have a friend. Vivian was looking forward to
spending more time with her today, so she was excited
when she saw Betsy farther down the hallway.
O Vivian and Betsy start to talk and walk to their first
class together
O Betsy introduces Vivian to a few more nice girls at
the school
O Betsy turns her back as Vivian approaches and
ignores her completely
O Vivian and Betsy make plans to hang out after
school
