the mushers were always selective in their core breeds. they doubted me at first glance, saying that i was nothing but an inadequate cross-breed, that i didn’t have the endurance nor stamina for the rush. that little boy, oh how much i’ve grown to love him, eyes full of glee and a fondness he carried as he scratched my ears. he begged his mother and father, declaring i was the one, that there was something about me that cried “leader” of the pack. it was by him whom i was taken in, he is the one i have to thank that now i’m finally able to feel my pads grace the sleek white by which i’ve only felt in my dreams. he is the very reason i feel my heart pounding out of my chest, the reason that my tail never stills even for a moment. he is what made me into the top dog, the leader of the pack and the one who saw many, many journeys for what was to come in time.
