It indicates who the person is because the story gives you an illusion of that person so you would want to be just them.what the characters value could be something that you really want or just something simply like money or clothes or shoes.the character could have the same fears as you.you just never really know imagination is a powerful thing that so many people take for granted most of the Time.

This would be third person because they are using the correct pronouns that belongs to third person like he, the name, etc
