Middle School basketball practice was intense! After watching professional NBA games on TV, Grayson realized that the sport was not as easy as it seemed. He had to learn several plays, practice skills, and learn how to be on offense and defense. As the guard, he was supposed to keep the opposing team from making it to the basket. He also had to learn to "talk to his teammates" while on the court. Basketball was a game of skill and teamwork. The teamwork involved not only talking to each other but learning signals for the plays. For example, a peace sign meant the teammate would fake left and a wink of the eye signaled a pass behind the back. Grayson began to know his role on the Buffalo Blaze basketball team during the last practice before the first game. The NBA was the pinnacle of the sport; he had to learn to "speak" basketball, and much practice would be needed.
