Lomas VV Thomas Wade Landry, often called Tom Landry, is well-
known in football. He spent his life as a key player on and
off the field.
Landry's greatest accomplishments came from his time
as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys where the team
won two Super Bowls in 1971 and 1977. This was a nice
surprise to fans who endured his first season in 1960 with
a record of 0-11-1. After that, Dallas would see 20
consecutive winning seasons and five NFC titles under
Landry's leadership.
With a decorated professional career, not many are
aware of Landry's time as an athlete. In the 1950's, he
played for the New York Giants. This was after the AFCC
team that drafted him didn't become part of the NFL.
Before becoming pro, he played defensive back and
fullback for the University of Texas. Prior to playing with
notable teams at the collegiate and professional level,
Landry was making a name for himself. As the Mission
High School quarterback, he lead the team to an
accumulated score of 322-0 his senior season.
