The Lucky Ticket
A man was walking home from work late one evening when he spotted a bright blue piece of paper
on the pavement. Looking closer, he realized that it was a lottery ticket. He grabbed it and went
home at once. He was skeptical about winning lotteries. Even so, he switched on his TV to watch
the announcement of the winning lottery numbers. As the announcer read each number, the man's
heart began to beat faster. Every single number announced was on the ticket he had found. When
the announcer called out the last number, the man could not believe his ears. He had won $20
million! He jumped up with joy and began skipping around his house. He thought about all the
things he was going to buy with the lottery money. While hopping around with excitement, he hit
his leg on a table, tripped, and fell facedown.
He woke up with a start and realized that he was in bed. He fumbled around in his sleep looking for
the ticket. It was only then that he realized he'd been dreaming! The lottery ticket wasn't real. With
a groan, he lay back down and cursed his bad luck.
