A North African theologian, bishop, and philosopher (354–430). He influenced Western philosophy, psychology, political theory, and theology. He lived in Thagaste, Carthage, Rome, and Milan. He is one of the most important church fathers for his writings in Latin during the patristic period. He was involved with a movement known as Manichaeism until his conversion to Christianity. Ambrose, a talented orator, baptized and mentored Augustine. In 395, he became bishop of Hippo. He went on to debate a group called the Donatists. He helped formulate the doctrine of original sin and just war theory. Among his most important works are The Confessions, On the Trinity, and The City of God. Group of answer choices
