Directions: After reading selections from four of the great Greek heroes, you will use self selected quotes to pinpoint important details about each hero’s earliest beginnings, tragic flaws, heroic deeds, and other details. When you are looking through each chapter, you will use EXACT quotes from the text and use proper MLA citations to record your choices. For each hero, choose quotes that best explain the detail requested. When you cite a quote, you must always follow the format:

"This is an example of a quote taken from a text" (Hutfilz 12).
[Open quotations, the quote, close quote, open parenthesis, author last name, page number, close quotations, punctuation.]

If your quote includes dialogue, use the following format:
"I said, 'This is how you quote direct dialogue.' The students knew to follow my format" (Hutfilz 14).

**This exercise will help you understand how important your quote choices are when writing or describing—Additionally, these will be used later on when compiling an essay.**
