The Māori ~

The Māori are considered people, it isn't like the Raven and the First Men (even though it does mention about mankind): the Māori people are indigenous Polynesian people of the mainland of New Zealand. It originated by settlers from eastern Polynesia, who arrived in New Zealand during several waves of 'waka voyages' between 1320 and 1350.

Now, comparing and contrasting the two isn't hard, but we gotta give an analysis, here's something that could really help get you started:

The two myths are important to their culture in different ways, but let's get a basic understanding of how they contribute to THEIR culture.

For one, the Raven and The First Men are depicting the myth of how mankind was found or seen from a giant clam shell (depicting the story of how mankind started or was created), so that's what they believe in of how mankind has started.

For The Māori people though, they are natives who (like others) also how they believe the relation to their creation was, so there are some similarities, there are other things that they believed in as well, but they didn't follow in the way 'the Raven and the First Men' had depicted it (even though it isn't a living thing, it's an object and has meaning to its culture).

Both of them have an important feature which is special to their culture, which we had just discussed as: mankind creation. They have their own beliefs of what happened and how they came onto the Earth, it may be different, but this is something that's easy to compare between the two, it may be different stories, but it's similar in a way.

For a contrast, you can consider one to be a group full of people (or natives) in eastern Polynesia, and the Raven and The First Men is pretty much just an object with a deeper meaning towards the culture its mainly directed towards, how mankind had formed.

The two myths exposed in the question above reveal many important points in the Maori and Haida culture. The first characteristic that can be observed is the ability to explain the existence of humans and the world we know through stories that involve supernatural deities and forces. In addition, these myths show how these cultures were linked to nature, since the creation of humanity is directly related to the creation of nature. The myths also reinforce that these cultures valued courage, good deeds and the pleasure and satisfaction that came from it.
