Set in a dystopian society where the main character sacrifices herself for the good of her family. She allows the readers to put themselves in her place and what they would do to help their family-offer up their own life to save her sisters life.  It is a story of life and death, ups and downs, a love story of sorts but mainly sacrifice. The community is set in a time when they have sacrificed so much and are barely able to survive but once a year they sacrifice one of their own. The games introduce us to other sectors, this shows us class structure, similar to society now. Some rich and some poor. We see just what people are willing to do to live. We see how corrupt the system behind the game is by adding in and changing up the game to fit their needs. All of the things in the Hunger Games are relatable to todays society and some of the things people of different race, class and ethnicities experience. People love a good story about overcoming things. This is one of those stories. We want to go see the good girl win. Hunger Games evolves with each book and we see the main character evolve as well. But each book keeps us coming back for more- we want to know what happened where we left off. We recognize Katness's struggle and we want her to beat they system and the "man". It gives people a possible glimpse into our future as a society on Earth if we dont focus on the issues we have at hand.
