The couple walked near the bridge. The same bridge the woman's younger brother had thrown himself off of almost 4 years ago, to the day. The man knew this, of course. It's why he brought her there in the first place. At this point, they were halfway across the beautiful overpass, at the estimated point of the boy's jump. The girl stopped, looking out into the darkness of the night, for at this time, nothing could be seen but the starry sky. And when she turned around, the man who found her dear brother, was down on one knee. "Since the day I met you, you have been everything I had ever wanted in a wife," he said, "And I hope you will do me the great pleasure of becoming that beautiful bride I have been imagining for four years in the making. I brought you here only because I know you always wanted your brother's blessing. So please, do me the honor of allowing me to be your husband." She just stared, shocked into silence. But, the shock soon wore off, and instead of answering, she followed in suit of her brother, leaving the man to find yet another body in the American River.  

martians or other types of aliens represent a unique fear as opposed to zombies. vampires and other types of monsters.   in most sci-fi stories, aliens come from other worlds and have different or more advanced technology.   abductions and experimentation on human bodies that involve these technologies, or the use of these technologies against human beings and the use of unknown "powers", are a type of fear that's different from that of other types of monsters.
