Jason had an after-school job helping out at Mr. Ortega's bodega. Mr. Ortega was a good boss, but he was demanding. Whenever Jason got
careless as he swept behind the counter, Mr. Ortega would point out
where he hadn't done it correctly or had missed some crumbs. When
Jason took a long break, Mr. Ortega would point at his watch and sigh.
After several months at his new job, Jason noticed that he had also
started to stay late at soccer practice to go over things that he hadn't
gotten quite right, to take a few extra shots, or to practice throw-ins
that hadn't been aimed accurately. He told his boss about his new
sense of motivation, and one day at a game, Jason noticed Mr. Ortega
sitting in the stands. "You've learned well!" he shouted.

Read the excerpt from "the most dangerous game." again rainsford lifted the heavy knocker, and let it fall. the door opened then, opened as suddenly as if it were on a spring, and rainsford stood blinking in the river of glaring gold light that poured out. the first thing rainsford's eyes discerned was the largest man rainsford had ever seen—a gigantic creature, solidly made and black bearded to the waist. in his hand the man held a long-barreled revolver, and he was pointing it straight at rainsford's heart. the details of this excerpt show that rainsford sees ivan as a(n) individual.
