Read this excerpt from "The Tell-Tale Heart" by Edgar Allan Poe. His room was as black as pitch with the thick darkness, (for the shutters were close fastened, through fear of robbers,) and so I knew that he could not see the opening of the door, and I kept pushing it on steadily, steadily.

How does the situational irony of this excerpt affect "The Tell-Tale Heart"?

A )It makes the old man's death feel even more tragic because he never realized that the real danger to him was not from robbers outside, but from the man inside his home.

B)It shows that, despite what he says, the narrator was actually not very careful when he crept into the old man's room.

C)It makes the old man's death feel more deserved since he was clearly causing the narrator great strife by worrying so much about the danger posed to him by robbers.

D)It shows that, while the narrator is unreliable, he's actually telling the truth about the problems and pain that the old man caused.

Read the excerpt from ernest hemingway’s “soldier's home.” his father was in the real estate business and always wanted the car to be at his command when he required it to take clients out into the country to show them a piece of farm property. the car always stood outside the first national bank building where his father had an office on the second floor. now, after the war, it was still the same car. nothing was changed in the town except that the young girls had grown up. how does hemingway’s description of the town as unchanged impact the readers’ perception of krebs? it emphasizes that while the town has remained the same, krebs has changed. it illustrates that krebs despises the town he grew up in because it is boring. it demonstrates that krebs views himself as similar to the other soldiers from his town. it reveals that krebs is jealous of those who were able to stay in town and avoid the war.
