Activity 1.3 Once Upon a Picture Directions: Write a 3-minute speech on the given picture. Use the 5 Ws to help
you fully describe the image:
What: What is happening in the image?
Who: Who is in the image? Can you link any characters to the image?
Where: Where is this place or location?
why: Why is this image important?
When: When do you think these events took place? Think about the history of
the image or what will happen in the future.

What looks like is happening in the picture is a mother is holding her child terrified hiding away from a strange creature at the window. The people in the picture are the mother and her child and this creepy weird thing at the window . This could be literally anywhere to be honest but we can say it's a house for example. It's important cause it can mean so many different things using a little of imagination and creativity you can make a whole story for this picture. Well the creature at the window looks like a robot to me so maybe this is more in the future when the planet is more advanced in tech and this drawing can be about robots trying to take over the earth .

1. read the following excerpt from franklin d. roosevelt's "fireside chat 19":

on the other side of the picture, we must learn also to know that guerilla warfare against the germans in, let us say serbia or norway, us; that a successful russian offensive against the germans us; and that british successes on land or sea in any part of the world strengthen our hands.

remember always that germany and italy, regardless of any formal declaration of war, consider themselves at war with the united states at this moment just as much as they consider themselves at war with britain or russia. and germany puts all the other republics of the americas into the same category of enemies. the people of our sister republics of this hemisphere can be honored by that fact.  

the true goal we seek is far above and beyond the ugly field of battle. when we resort to force, as now we must, we are determined that this force shall be directed toward ultimate good as well as against immediate evil. we americans are not destroyers — we are builders.
