1.If the suffix starts with a consonant, keep the e and add the suffix.

2.If the suffix starts with a vowel, drop the e and add the suffix.

3.If a base word ends in double e, do not drop the final e, but never write three e's in a row.

4.Keep the final e only if it lets g or c make their soft sounds.

5.This word is an exception to the rule.
