Even though Transcendentalism was first introduced in our country over 150 years ago, we can still see representations of its philosophy in our culture today. For this project, you will be creating a Google Slideshow using popular culture references that embody ONE of the five principles of
Transcendentalism (refer to the notes as a guide!). You can consider resources such as television, movies, cartoons, comics, newspaper editorials,
music, fads, public figures, etc. For this project, you may only extend your pop culture artifacts to the year 2000*.
You must have a minimum of seven examples on your poster. You may create as long a slideshow as necessary. Feel free to get artistic with this
project-lots of color and creativity! You can use pictures, videos, audio clips, etc., for your examples. Please review the rubric on the assignment
page for details on what you need to include in your presentation and how you will be assessed.
Your Google Slideshow is due by the beginning of class on Thursday, October 15. In class, everyone will share their slideshow. You must come
prepared and ready to explain why and how the pop culture artifacts you chose represent the principles of Transcendentalism.
*You are also not allowed to use any examples already discussed in class.
