My Rainy Day Have you ever had your birthday party cancelled? Unfortunately, I can say that I have. As I looked outside,
the rain drops streaked the window pane. I sighed a long, depressing sigh. It was as if the entire world
was against me today. "Why me?" I wondered as I planted my nose flat against the glass. Today was
supposed to be the day of my birthday party, but we had to cancel it because of the terrible weather. I had
been looking forward to presents, cake, and seeing my friends.
I decided to walk down to the living room to see if anything good was on TV. As I walked through the
doorway, I heard a group of voices yell, "Surprise!" Startled, I stood there frozen for a couple seconds
before I realized what was happening. My mom, dad, sister, and brother were standing in the living room
with a cake, balloons, and a few presents. I immediately felt grateful that I had a family who cared about
me. As they came up to hug me, one by one, I couldn't help but laugh. I was giddy with excitement, yet
overwhelmed with love
