The writers reacted to this war by experimenting with their style of writing so they could describe the war in great detail. In a great tragedy like this, there are many ways the writers could detail and elaborate on how, for example, the soldiers fought. An example you could use to understand why the writers would do this is: "The soldiers fought with great fearlessness and great-heart. Their swords reflecting the shining rays of light of the Sun." As you can see, I used detailed words and let my words orchestrate an image in your head, in which the writers in this war were trying to do in this war.
