From the eupony, we discover that there is a "sleeping-drink spices" which she has with a "fatigued demeanor". Also, we see "the evening gown". This actually may refer to the activities she carries as she goes to bed.

"...the cloudy dregs of a late hour" reveals that this actually took place in the night.

Therefore, the effect the eupony has is that it sends it is lulling and actually speaks of a lady going to bed.
