Be a Founding Father Discussion Now it's your turn to be a founding father. Imagine you are able to travel back to the Revolutionary Era, to
during the writing of either the Declaration of Independence in 1776 or the U. S. Constitution and Bill of
Rights in 1781-1791. You bring with you knowledge of more than 200 years of U. S. history (I hope!). What
ONE revision would you like to see?
In 1-2 fully-developed paragraphs, make a convincing case for your suggested revision. Follow these rules:
• You may add to delete from, or modify the document.
• Make sure it is clear which document you would revise, the specific revisions you would want to see,
and your reasons.
• Remember the rhetorical devices we've studied, and use them where appropriate; the founding fathers
are experienced at thinking and debating, so you will have to be at your best to convince them.
• Cite any evidence you bring in as support.
• Respond to at least two of your classmates.
• Finally, keep your comments respectful; condescension and bullying will not be tolerated in this
gentleman's (and ladies') exchange.
