What is the main point of Vonnegut's letter?

A lot of schools were banning his books because they were "inappropriate" and someone even went as far as burning his books. He decided to retaliate and wrote a letter explaining why literature shouldn't be censored. His books only had some bad words (no suggestive scenes at all). In the real world, people say bad things. His literaure is no different from the real world in which students live in and therefore, his books should not be banned. Books are meant to educate, and if it means educating students about reality then so be it.
