The film romeo and Juliet was filmed like as if it was based in a modern world with electronics and guns. For example, in the book Mercrutio dies of a knife wound to the lung while in the movie he dies from a gunshot. The book on the other hand, is written in a Shakespearean time where they used knives and obviously didn't have technology. But, they kept the Shakespearean language in the film but cut out certain dialogue.
