Moses was the chosen leader of the Isrealites who was raised in the Egyptian palace, Pharoah on the other hand was the leader of the Egyptians. Moses was perceived as the hero who had to flee and leave his royal heritage behind just for the noble cause of setting his people free. Moses was also very educated, if not the most educated Israelite in Egypt; been that he was raised and educated in the Egyptian palace, which created more respect for his cause among the Isrealites. Pharoah was perceived as a God in Egypt as was all other pharaoh before him, he was the most powerful man in Egypt and had the final say on the affairs of the state, and to the Isrealites, he was the most hated vilian. Given the above reasons, it was no surprise that both men treated the other with mutual respect, with one seeing the other as a mere representative of his own people. The fact that both men had the interest of their people to protect weakened the relationship between them, as each man was adamant about his own demands and requests. Nonetheless, it was still the same plight and needs of their people that gave them the strength to persist throughout the bargain for freedom for the Isrealites by Moses, and the refusal by pharaoh. From the way the events played out, one can see that the motivation for both men was the mantle of leadership; this single factor has driven men to the point of even putting their own lives in danger.
