"The story of Ida B. Wells" is a biographical account written by Shannon Moreau. The story is about an incident in the life of Ida, when one of his friend named 'Thomas Moss' was brutally murdered because he was black. His friend became a victim of racism that shook Ida. She did not witnessed this racist acts for the first time in her life.

The author chose to write this biographical account like a story most likely because she wanted her readers to understand the effects that such racist acts have not only on the family members that suffer it but the whole community of blacks and slaves. This incident, the author said, did not weaken Ida to fight for justice for her friend but strengthened her.
