The resolution of the short story developed the theme by relating to us the new found relationship between La and her father after her mother was gone, the loneliness his father might be passing through and La's relationship with Blue. These developed the theme of the short story.

Citing an example from the text:

"Thank you honey". He looked as though he hadn't slept or eaten for days. But he took off his glasses then, and La saw two small images of herself swimming in the tears in his eyes.

La went to her room to tell Blue...

Lia Block is an American writer, who specializes both in adult and young adult fiction, short stories, screenplays, and poetry.
