He warns Jem and Scout not to kill Mockingbirds because they bring joy and happiness to others and they don’t harm anyone. This quote shows that the world is corrupt and it destroys innocence. It shows that good things in this world are taken for granted. It also points out how good people are oppressed. Innocent things are corrupted.
