Back: Theme is the life lesson the author conveys in a story.
Card 2 Front: How do you determine the theme of a story?
Back: Every protagonist has a conflict. The lesson he or she learns solving this conflict is the theme.

Back: Explicit means theme is directly stated, and implicit means you infer the theme from the story.
