If you are talking about traveling in general you can fill in the sentence above. The main way you want to write a thesis statement is plan out your body paragraph main ideas. Once you have all the main ideas you put the main ideas in a sentence (for example you can say things like 'there are three things that make ___ what it is today, and they are (list your main ideas)). After you write that sentence then you basically just make a sentence or two that lead up to it just so that it doesn't seem like it came out of left feild. .
