When using figurative language, it can help you better visualize or take pleasure in whatever you are reading. For example: "Its raining cats and dogs." Of course, it isn't really raining cats and dogs, but the reader can get the idea that there is a lot of rain in whatever they are reading. We can also use "pop" or "slam" to help you understand exactly what sounds to picture in your head to better understand what is going on.
