The Adventures of Two Siblings
When my brother Robert and I were little we were inseparable, even though he got adopted by another family when he was a newborn and he rarely got to come and see me. When I was really little around three or four years old my brother tried to act like he was another father figure to me, because I didnā€™t really have a father figure in my life. When I wanted to play and he didnā€™t I would just keep aging him on until he decided it would be a good thing to play with me. We always played hard and we could hardly ever stay awake until it was time to go to bed. In the summer we would sometimes get our swim clothes on, and then we went outside, and filled a couple of large tubs of water and went swimming. Another thing, Robert and I would sometimes go to the Bangor Bridge. It was a place where people go swimming a lot. One time we went we had to get back into our uncle's car and go home because there were way too many Drug addicts swimming which they were the reason why we didnā€™t go back there for a while.
One year during the summer when I was five and my brother had just turned fourteen, we were camping in our grandmaā€™s backyard. He thought it would be cool to try to scare me. I was sitting in the tent that we had propped up on the trampoline. Then, he decided to come up to me and start talking about the boogie man. Robert said, ā€œThe boogie man feeds on little children like you!ā€ I was crying and started yelling ā€œNo, I donā€™t want to be eaten by the boogie man!ā€ He scared me half to death so I went inside and told my nana. My nana put a green, glow-in-the-dark face mask on, and went outside when it got dark and scared Robert worse than he scared me.
As we started getting older our sibling rivalry kicked in and we barely ever wanted to hang around each other. Robā€™s adopted sister Grace, and I started getting closer when I went to their house because she was a female and all. Rob got his first girlfriend at sixteen. I didnā€™t like her much because she was a snob. She would get my brother in so much trouble. But, one time he got her some ice cream from rite aid and I got jealous because I had asked him for some but he didnā€™t give me any. I cried for a while because I was trying to get him to break her little snobby heart. I told Robert ā€œ Your girlfriend hit me!ā€ but, she came over and said, ā€œ I did no such thing I would never put my hands on your little sister.ā€ Rob ended up breaking her heart when I ran away crying I yelled: ā€œ I hate you and I never want to talk to you again.ā€
When my brother was nineteen I was about ten and my brother was selling drugs or his adopted mom. He loved his adopted mom and ended up doing anything for her. My brother got put into prison for almost two years. He didnā€™t ever want to talk to me because he knew that I was looking up to him but he decided to make a couple of bad decisions. He only called on my birthdays or holidays. My brother thought he was about to get out but somebody was hating on him well This was about a year in and he got in a fight and got a year added to his sentence. So on my eleventh birthday, he called me and I cried because I missed him so very much.
Our relationship has gone down in the dumps and he told me that he loved me and if I still wanted to look up to him I could. But, I looked upon the good decisions, not the bad ones. We barely talk anymore but when we do it is very heartfelt and loving. I miss my big brother so much he was my inspiration. Grace and I havenā€™t talked since I was about eight. Rob and I havenā€™t talked since I was about twelve years old.
