For your analysis, answer the following prompt/question:
How does the author of “Reunion” use extended metaphor to create a comforting tone?
Remember that an analysis is not a summary. DO NOT retell the story. Neither is an analysis a review or a persuasive essay. You should avoid terms of praise for the piece or the author. You do not have to convince the reader that your view of the piece is the best possible view.
You need only present your view (thesis) and back it up with evidence. All the evidence should come from the piece itself. There should be NO OUTSIDE sources used.

You must:
-Use the “Literary Analysis Worksheet” to plan your response.
-Write a thesis statement that tells me how you think the author uses extended metaphor to develop tone.
-Use evidence and details from the text to support your analysis.
-Edit and proofread your work!

Your response should be at least 3-4 solid, well-crafted paragraphs.

Highlight all instances of parallel structure. there is no longer any room for hope. if we wish to be free—if we mean to preserve inviolate those inestimable privileges for which we have been so long contending—if we mean not basely to abandon the noble struggle in which we have been so long engaged, and which we have pledged ourselves never to abandon until the glorious object of our contest shall be obtained—we must fight!
