There are two theme's to "The Gift of the Magi" one being Love and the other being Sacrifice. "The Gift of the Magi" gives it's lesson by showing that even in rough times there is still some "Love" in everyone's hearts.

By having the setting at Christmas time it shows the comparison to the men's gifts to Jesus.

Here is something to work off of because i am guessing you did not read it and are hoping for someone to do it for you.

Explanation:

The story “The Gift of the Magi” which is written by O. Henry follows a young married couple who sacrifice their most prized possessions to buy a Christmas gift for one another. Though the story tells the tale of two people, a large portion of the story involves following Della on her quest to find a gift for Jim. The worry and unease that Della shows toward buying a gift is not caused by wanting to show love to her husband but fear of rejection. Della fears that by breaking tradition she will also break Jim’s heart, severing his love for her.

both the address and the poster use diction to convey their message. diction is defined as a style of writing or speaking based on the types of words chosen in order to send a message. parallelism is when a similar sentence structure is used for several sentences on a text; roosevelt's address doesn't follow that. repetition has to do with repeating a word or sentence in order to emphasize and idea, however neither the poster nor the address use repetion. finally, the address doesn't use images to convey a message.
