With the calling of the estates general, "the nobility of france expected that history would repeat itself." did it? what actually happened? history did not repeat itself. the two upper classes did not take control of the third class, and make decisions on their own, as what had happened to the early estates general. they were very tense about it, but in the end, the estates general had a meeting with everyone in the same room at the same time. this is when the oath of the tennis court occurred, which stated that they would not disband until a new constitution was written. they honored their vow, and did not disband, though they were heavily pressured by the king to give up.
