In the first stanza from the"The Solitary Reaper" , Wordsworth 's expresses his surprise at listening to a  country girl singing beautifully. He feels attracted to the combination of nature and human activity: singing."O listen! for the Vale profound // Is overflowing with the sound..." These lines exemplify the merger of nature and human activity.

In the second stanza, he compares the lonely girl's song to the song of different birds: nightingale and the cuckoo. He expresses his attraction towards the power of the girl's song. Her song is more beautiful and powerful than the birds': "No Nightingale did ever chaunt// More welcome notes to weary bands.." Wordsworth reflects his appeal to the fact that nature inspires the human soul.
