Ben walked through ahab's books, a place that had been
of great comfort to him throughout his youth. anytime he
needed to escape his everyday life, ahab's was his
doorway to a thousand distant lands. he'd even worked
here for a few months, but as graduation had neared, he
thought he should focus on improving his grades instead.
he approached the counter where jack, the owner, stood.
"hey, jack. are the new road maps in? "
jack looked puzzled. "maps, huh? local or national? " he
replied.
"national, ," ben said with a broad smile.
which section of the passage most clearly foreshadows that ben won't be
staying in town after graduation?
