In Ophelia's song, the death of Hamlet is figuratively described by grass-green turf and stone. the dead body is wrapped in 'white shroud-like mountain snow' and 'larded with sweet flowers' which wept his death to the grave. Ophelia recalls it was Valentine's Day and she is waiting at the window imagining that Hamlet rose from his death, wore clothes and waited at the door. Ophelia swears by Gis and Saint Charity, she talks of shame borne out of secret sex that lovers make at the promise of the wedding which did not occur. Even though the sun is going to set but Hamlet failed to turn up to her bed.
