Why do you think mccreight, our author, decided to jump in time throughout the opening sections of the novel? what does this to establish for the reader?

in act iii, scene ii, caliban, trínculo and stephano are drinking and wandering about the island. caliban asks for to steal prospero´s magic books. as a consequence, they will be able to kill him and take miranda. in this way, stephano will become king, propero´s daughter will be the queen, caliban will be their servant and everyone will recover power over the island.
