Scooter by ruth kelley cricket magazine, may/june 2013 during that cold, rainy weather, i had a heck of a time trying to catch scooter. slim said i should try to get to be his friend. "he's been running loose on the range for the last couple of months. he needs to be gentled down again," slim explained. "and like most mules, scooter's got a mind of his own. but after he gets used to you, he'll be more likely to do what you want him to do." so after school, all during the wet weather, i tried and tried to make friends with scooter. but that frisky little mule only wanted to play. as soon as i'd get near him, he'd scoot off in another direction. then he'd stop and look back at me. it was as if he were teasing. after getting sopping wet a few times from just trying to pat him, i discovered that if i took him a carrot, he wouldn't run away. but it looked like it might be a long time before i could get to ride the little stinker. which of the following is evidence?
a. the narrator is a boy.
b. the narrator and scooter eventually become friends.
c. i discovered that if i took him a carrot, he wouldn't run away.
d. the story takes place in the winter.
