In my opinion, I dont think it was excessive...in any way!. The maids, they turned against the queen in his absence.  Would you trust them??? I don't think so..If he let them go, they would spread the news of the suitor's deaths, and it is risky. The suitor's were selfish. Also rude and greedy for money. The god's marked them for death, so it was time for them.

from the political point of view it could be said that the candidate   is an effective speaker because she takes a strong position on the issue. it is an open discussion but probably she is making a presentation and can choose which subjects she wants to address. she is very likely to attain her aim which is to convince voters to accept her proposal.
