Review the excerpt from “the monkey’s paw.” “‘the first man had his three wishes. yes,’ was the reply; ‘i don’t know what the first two were, but the third was for death. that’s how i got the paw.’” what does this tell you about the first two wishes the first man made? the wishes went badly, causing the man to lose the monkey’s paw. the wishes were so extravagant, the man had nothing left to wish for. the wishes were so unfulfilling, the man gave the monkey paw away. the wishes were disastrous, causing the man to lose all hope.
