A pun is a humorous way of saying a statement/word that means a different word.

Two people are snacking on some dried fruit in a romantic setting. One asks the other, "Is this a date?" The other replies, "No, it is a prune."

The first person is saying date as in two people seeing each other romantically, but the other is interpreting it as the fruit.

a makes the most sense, romeo's statement that in staying to speak to juliet he is risking his life, leads the audience to worry about his safety. obviously if he says that if he stays, he will be at risk, so of course this makes the audience worry for his safety!
