Can someone me answer a few questions or tell me if it's right at least. i'll post the passage at the here as well, i just need some .

the author's main purpose in this passage is to

a) establish the setting-the time an place-of the story

b) resolve the conflict that drives the story

c) bring the story to it's exciting turning point

d) to bring the protagonist and the antagonist into the plot

honestly, i think it's a but the thing is i'm not entirely sure about that. the story is a bit confusing to me considering i've read it more than twice. , i appreciate it.
