self-driving cars

it's no secret that technology is moving forward faster than most people can keep up. one recent invention that has added to this progress is the self-driving car. many cars have had assisted driving technology for years: back-up cameras, cruise control, automatic braking, danger alert sounds, and traffic information have been used with the intention of drivers become safer. now, self-driving cars are becoming more prevalent as several companies are investing in the technology.
some critics say that these cars will just be another hazard for drivers to avoid. their criticism is not surprising, though. several instances of self-driving cars getting into accidents have been reported, and the cars are not always able to recognize driving lanes when the lanes are not clearly marked. the question for many is whether these occurrences are going to be fixed. regardless of the outcome, assisted driving will continue to be important to the advancement of a tech-savvy society.

"and these i address to all females that would be married, or are already so; not that i suppose their sex more faulty than the other, and most to want advice, for i assure [women], upon my honour, i believe the quite contrary; but the reason is, because i esteem them better disposed to receive and practice it, and therefore am willing to begin, where i may promise myself the best success." this statement from franklin's "rules and maxims for promoting matrimonial happiness" best demonstrates his use of criticism to argue his point his use of common sense to appeal to women his use of flattery to gain women's attention his use of facts to prove his point

In this excerpt from "a modest proposal" by jonathan swift, which important issue does the writer deal with using a satirical tone? some persons of a desponding spirit are in great concern about that vast number of poor people, who are aged, diseased, or maimed; and i have been desired to employ my thoughts what course may be taken, to ease the nation of so grievous an incumbrance. but i am not in the least pain upon that matter, because it is very well known, that they are every day dying, and rotting, by cold and famine, and filth, and vermin, as fast as can be reasonably expected. and as to the young labourers, they are now in almost as hopeful a condition. they cannot get work, and consequently pine away from want of nourishment, to a degree, that if at any time they are accidentally hired to common labour, they have not strength to perform it, and thus the country and themselves are happily delivered from the evils to come. a. old, sickly people cannot be hired as laborers because they don't have the physical stamina required for the job. b. old, sickly people and young laborers are useless to the nation because they cannot be productive citizens. c. the economy of the nation is burdened by the poor, the old, and the sickly who survive on charity and handouts. d. the living conditions of the poor and their lack of employment opportunities are serious concerns for the nation. reset next
