How did scout's inaccurate judgments contribute to the scene at the jail and after?

Scout was believed and the men left Atticus and Tom Robinson alone afterward they did not bully him. Because Scout said they were wrong and she was friends with one of Mr. Ewell's followers son. They even invited him over if you don't remember think about to Chapter 3 when Walter Cunningham came over and poured syrup everywhere. Scout also asks Mr. Cunningham (the father) about his entailment, tells Mr. Cunningham to say hi to Walter for her, and keeps prattling away until his lack of answers really starts to get to her. After that Mr. Cunningham said let's go he did not want to hurt the person that helped him even when he couldn't afford much for his children.
