here is your goal for this lesson:
•use your critical listening skills to evaluate a presentation
listen to a political speech, a news commentary, a public service announcement, or a commercial. write a paper of two to three well-developed paragraphs (at least 125 words) evaluating the message. be sure to state main ideas and supporting details. your statements should answer the critical listening questions and provide evidence from the presentation you listened to.
ask yourself these questions:
1.do i know the statement is based on fact, and can i verify the fact from multiple resources?
2.is the statement affected by emotion?
3.does the speaker have something to gain by changing my opinion?
4.do i want to believe this simply because it was stated by someone i like or admire?
5.most importantly, does this statement agree with my christian ideals and standards? why or why not?
