The rhetorical situation refers to the context of a rhetorical event. This includes the issue or problem, the audience and a set of constraints. In other words, the rhetorical situation are the circumstances in which one or more people communicate in other to change someone's perspective. The concept was developed by Lloyd Bitzer in 1968. The concept of rhetorical situation also defines the space in which "rhetorical discourse" takes place.
