You might want to add an excerpt if you're going to ask that question.at any rate, information and views on slavery vary depending on when they were written, and whether the piece is from the south or north. of course, i don't know what the information was leaning towards, as you gave no reference.  all in all, it's important to look at both sides of the story, in the south, it was normal to have slaves, in the north, it wasnt nearly as normal. both sides have conflicting feelings about slavery as it wasn't humane, but it also kept businesses, and farms running.  i suggest that you at least give some reference to what you're asking about in the future, and if you'd like to learn more, i suggest you look at both the south and north's perspective on slavery. (modern day won't be nearly as interesting.)
