- Don't be overly familiar with people to the point of intruding or being rude.

- It is better to have few but loyal friends than many, but fake friends. If you find loyal ones, keep them close.

- Don't spend too much time on pleasures and distractions. It's okay to meet new people but be wary.

Of entrance to a quarrel, but being in, 
Bear't that the opposed may beware of thee.
- Beware of fights. If you are in one, know that your enemy is also being careful. (Bear't = bear it in mind)

6. Give every man thy ear, but few thy voice;
- Hear every man's thoughts but listen to a few. Listen but don't eagerly share your thoughts with everyone, only to those who deserve it.

7. Take each man's censure, but reserve thy judgement. 
- Listen to both sides or opinions before making a decision.

For the apparel oft proclaims the man, 
- You can be judged by how you dress up. Dress as much as your wallet can afford but don't overdress on occasions that don't require it.

- Try not to be flashy, instead keep it simple yet beautiful. Attitude is more important.

10. For loan oft loses both itself and friend,
And borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry.
- Be careful in handling your money. Lending money usually ends up destroying a relationship. Borrowing money makes a person less of himself/herself.

11. This above all: to thine ownself be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day, 
Thou canst not then be false to any man.
- Always be true to yourself. If you are, then you will also be true to everyone else.
